On Friday, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water Minister Rabinarayan Naik met at a high level for inter-departmental cooperation. The gathering aimed to speed up the process of allocating land to landless people for house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
According to an official press release, Block Development Officers (BDOs) shall develop a list of landless beneficiaries eligible for land assignment under PMAY and submit it to the relevant Tehsildar. The Tehsildars, in collaboration with Revenue Inspectors, will select eligible land and make the required arrangements to distribute it to beneficiaries.
To streamline the process, Tehsildars and Revenue Inspectors will have monthly coordination meetings on the first Saturday of each month. These sessions will be centered on ensuring timely implementation, with tight supervision by the District Collectors.
No PMAY beneficiary would be denied the opportunity to build a home owing to a lack of land. In addition, District Collectors will submit monthly progress reports to the government to monitor the scheme’s progress.
