Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices continued closing on a lower note for the fourth consecutive session on October 17. The BSE Sensex lost 478 points, or 0.59%, to end at 81,023. The NSE Nifty 50 finished 221 points, or 0.89% lower, at 24,750. The Bank Nifty ended the day’s trading 1.02% lower at 51,274. The Nifty Midcap 100 ended the session 992 points, or 1.67% lower, at 58,460.

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.89% lower at 24,750, while the BSE Sensex closed 0.59% lower at 81,022.91.
Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Power Grid, L&T, and SBI were the top gainers in the Nifty 50. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto, Shriram Finance, M&M, Nestle India, and Hero MotoCorp were the major losers in the Nifty 50 on October 17.

Nifty IT was the only sector to trade in green on October 17. The sectoral index was pulled by Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Mphasis, TCS, and Wipro majorly.

Except for SBI every stock of Bank Nifty was trading in the red on October 17. HDFC Bank along with ICICI Bank and Axis Bank saw deep cuts.

The Nifty 50 was down 191 points or 0.77% at 24,780 while the Sensex was down 462 points or 0.57% at 81,040.
The NSE Nifty 50 opened 0.22% higher at 25,027.40, while the BSE Sensex opened 0.31% higher at 81,758.07.
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies, traded down by 0.02% at 103.52.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose on Wednesday and closed at a record high, and Wall Street’s two other benchmark indexes also ended higher, weathering declines in megacap tech shares thanks to small-caps gains and financial shares buoyed by strong earnings, reported Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ended up by 51.49 points or 0.28% at 18,367.08 The S&P 500 ended higher by 27.21 points or 0.47% at 5,842.47, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading down by 44.87 point or 0.10% at 43,033.83.
