Stock Market Highlights, Friday, November 8, 2024: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed in the red for the second straight day on Friday.
The BSE Sensex fell 55.47 points (0.07 percent) to close at 79,486.32, while the Nifty 50 fell 51.15 points (0.21 percent) to 24,148.20.
As many as 27 of the 50 NSE Nifty50 constituent stocks closed in the red, led by Trent, Coal India, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, and State Bank of India, which lost up to 3.50 percent.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan, Tech Mahindra, Nestle India, and Infosys were among the 23 Nifty50 constituent stocks that closed higher on Friday, with gains of up to 2.40 percent.
The broader markets closed in the red, with the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 down 1.33 percent and 1.70 percent, respectively.
Except for Nifty IT, Pharma, and FMCG, all sectoral indices finished lower. Nifty Realty and Media were the leading laggards among the sectoral indices, falling by more than 2% each.
