Stock Market Highlights, Friday, November 22, 2024: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed the week’s penultimate trading session on a high note, climbing more than 2% apiece, spurred by buying across sectors. The BSE Sensex rose 1,961.32 points, or 2.54 percent, to 79,117.11. The index rose to an intraday high of 79,218.19.
Mirroring the Sensex, the NSE Nifty50 closed higher by 557.35 points, or 2.39 percent, at 23,907.25, after reaching an intraday high of 23,956.10 on Friday.
Bulls displayed their biceps on Dalal Street, with 49 of the 50 constituent stocks of the Nifty50 finishing in the green. State Bank of India, Titan Company, Tata Consultancy Services, Ultratech Cement, and HCL Tech all saw significant gains. Bajaj Auto was the lone constituent stock of Nifty50 to end in the red on Friday.
In the broader market, the Nifty Smallcap100 and Nifty Midcap100 indices finished up 0.90 percent and 1.16 percent, respectively.
All sectoral indices closed in the green, with the exception of the Nifty Media Index, which fell by 0.32 percent. Notably, the Nifty IT index outperformed the other sectoral indexes, closing 3.29 percent higher, led by advances from Tata Consultancy Services, Mphasis, HCL Tech, LTIMindtree, and Infosys. This was followed by the Nifty Realty index, which closed up by more than 3%.
The Nifty FMCG, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty OMCs indices all closed higher on Friday, up more than 2% each.
