Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Prayagraj on Friday to inspect preparations for the huge Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted him as he arrived at the airport.
The Prime Minister traveled to Arail Ghat, where he met saints and did a ceremonial puja at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
PM Modi was greeted warmly by sadhus and saints before departing for Sangam on the Nishadraj Cruise from Arail. Thousands of people turned out to see the spectacle, with crowds lined the streets from GT Jawahar Chowk to the pandal on the Sangam side. To manage the big crowd, heavier vehicles were barred from entering.
Before his visit, PM Modi shared on X: “We are committed to making the Maha Kumbh divine and grand, ensuring every facility for devotees. Today, after darshan and puja in Prayagraj, I will review development projects related to Maha Kumbh and inaugurate several initiatives.”
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crores, including key infrastructure initiatives. This includes several corridors — Akshayvat Corridor, Hanuman Temple Corridor, Saraswati Koop, Bhardwaj Ashram Corridor, and Shringverpur Dham Corridor.
Aside from that, 29 temples will be renovated and restored, new bridges, overbridges, and road projects will be inaugurated, as well as railway, airport, and NHAI upgrades.
PM Modi will also start initiatives to treat and redirect tiny drains that flow into the Ganga, ensuring that untreated water does not enter the river. Additional projects for drinking water and energy infrastructure will also be launched.
PM Modi will also introduce the Kumbh Sahayak AI Chatbot, which will provide devotees with real-time guidance and updates on the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spent four hours evaluating the suggested locations and discussing planning for the Prime Minister’s interaction with Akhara saints.
