Stock Market Highlights, Thursday, December 26, 2024: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed Thursday’s volatile session flat. The 30-share Sensex finished at 78,472.48, down 0.39 points, after trading between 78,898.37 and 78,173.38.
Similarly, on the NSE, the Nifty50 finished at 23,750.20, up 22.55 points, or 0.1%, from its previous close of Thursday. The Nifty50 hit a day high of 23,854.50 and a low of 23,653.60.
31 of the 50 Nifty50 constituent stocks closed in the green, headed by Adani Ports, Shriram Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, and SBI Life Insurance Company, with gains of up to 5.22 percent. However, Titan, Asian Paints, Grasim, JSW Steel, and Tata Consumer Products were among the 18 stocks that ended in the red, with losses extending up to 1.17 per cent. Notably, Infosys was the only constituent stock of the Nifty50 that ended on a flat note.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 rose 0.12%, while the Nifty Smallcap100 fell only 0.02%.
In contrast, sectoral indexes concluded on a mixed note. The Nifty Auto, Pharma, Financials, PSU Bank, Realty, and Healthcare indices all finished higher by up to 0.84 percent. In contrast, FMCG, IT, Metal, Private Bank, and Media were among the sectors indexes that finished in the red, with losses of up to 1.46 percent.
