Stock Market Highlights, Friday, January 10, 2025: Indian markets fell for the second straight session on Friday, bringing the week to a close on a dismal note. The 30-share Sensex fell 241.30 points, or 0.31 percent, to end at 77,378.91. Today, the index traded between 77,099.55 and 77,919.70.
The NSE Nifty50 closed in the red at 23,431.50, down 95 points or 0.40 percent. The Nifty50 reached a high of 23,596.60, while the low was 23,426.55.
Shriram Finance, Adani Enterprises, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Bharat Electronics, and Ultratech Cement were among the 36 out of 50 Nifty50 constituent firms that lost money. In contrast, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Wipro, and Infosys were among the 14 equities that finished in the green, with gains ranging up to 6 per cent.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 closed 2.08 percent lower at 54,585.75, while the Nifty Smallcap100 lost 2.61 percent to 17,645.55.
Sectorally, Nifty IT was the lone gainer, up 3.44 percent, while Media (down 3.59%), Realty (down 2.77%), PSU Bank (down 2.72%), and Healthcare (down 2.21%) all fell sharply. Metals and financials continued under pressure, indicating pessimistic sentiment.
