Stock Market Highlights, Tuesday, March 18, 2025: Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 continued to rise for the second straight session, closing with gains of more than 1% apiece on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. After reaching an intra-day high of 75,385.76, the 30-share Sensex finished at 75,301.26, up 1131.31 points or 1.53% from the previous level.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty50 closed at 22,834, up 325.55 points, or 1.45%. On Tuesday, the index traded between 22,845.95 and 22,599.20.
Bulls ruled Dalal Street, with all Nifty50 constituent stocks, except Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, and Bharti Airtel, ending in the green, with gains reaching 3.35 percent on Tuesday. ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Shriram Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Motors contributed to the top gains on the Nifty50 index.
Broader indexes followed the benchmarks, with smallcap shares leading the surge, with the Nifty Smallcap100 index closing up 2.71 percent. The Nifty Midcapcap100 index advanced by 2.10 percent.
All of the NSE’s sectoral indices closed in positive territory, with advances of up to 3.62 percent. Among these, the Nifty Realty and Media indices rose by more than 3% each. This was followed by Nifty Auto, PSU Bank, Metal, and Consumer Durables, all of which settled at more than 2%.
Banking stocks also joined the celebration, with the Nifty Bank, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Private Bank indices closing up 1.99 percent, 2.29 percent, and 1.91 percent, respectively.
