To commemorate the first anniversary of the new government’s forming in June, a three-day event from June 11 to 13 will be held at the state, district, and block levels to showcase the notable accomplishments of various state government schemes and initiatives over the previous year.
The initiative’s goal is to tell the public about these achievements, expedite developmental operations across departments, and enhance Odisha’s growth trajectory.
A second preparatory meeting for these events was place today in the conference hall of Kharavela Bhawan, presided over by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department Surendra Kumar, along with other senior secretaries, commissioners, and officials from various departments, who participated in the discussions.
Building on the decisions made at the first preparatory meeting on April 25, the focus was on ensuring the smooth execution of the planned programs.
Chief Secretary Ahuja offered introductory remarks explaining the activities’ aims, while Principal Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department Sanjay Kumar Singh presented program details.
The activities are intended to enhance public awareness about the proper implementation of various government schemes, their goals, and the benefits of welfare programs.
A state-level public meeting and development exhibition will be place at Bhubaneswar’s Janata Maidan from June 11-13.
District-level meetings and programs will also span three days, with exhibitions organized over five days in collaboration with district administrations and ORMAS.
Several departments, including Works; Revenue; Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Information and Public Relations; Women and Child Development; Mission Shakti; Forest, Environment and Climate Change; Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water; Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development; Minority and Backward Classes Welfare; Health; Higher Education; School and Mass Education; Labour and Employees’ State Insurance; Handlooms and Textiles, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), among others, have been advised to collaborate in organizing these events.
The programs will include thematic discussions, cultural performances, and information, education, and communication activities at the block level.
To honor the government’s one-year anniversary, the Information and Public Relations Department will release a booklet detailing important achievements from several agencies. Other departments have been urged to create their own books outlining their achievements.
These publications will focus on issues such as women’s empowerment and Mission Shakti, agriculture, farmers, and irrigation, industrial growth and employment, Odia identity and the Shree Jagannath Temple, people-centered government, health, and education. These will also highlight the substantial achievements of central government welfare projects in Odisha, the state’s dedication to uplifting scheduled tribes, differently abled people, and underprivileged populations, and efforts to combat malnutrition. Gram panchayats will play an important role in rural development.
Departments have been instructed to publicize success stories related to their schemes through newspapers, media, and authentic video content.
A booklet titled “Pragati Prabaha” (Flow of Progress) will be released, detailing how the public has benefited from various government initiatives. Departments are encouraged to contribute success stories for this publication. Additionally, the Culture Department, in collaboration with Lalit Kala Academy, will organize an artists’ camp (painting workshop).
In accordance with the goal of a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047, Chief Secretary Ahuja proposed hosting competitions among students in schools and colleges to discuss their aspirations, with winners receiving prizes. He underlined the significance of demonstrating how the public benefits from government programs and actively participates in development endeavors.
A committee, chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, has been proposed to oversee and coordinate these initiatives. The group also emphasized preparations for different inaugurations and foundation-laying events scheduled for the one-year mark.
