In a crucial step toward empowering women entrepreneurs, the Odisha government has announced plans to grant interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh to Lakhpati Didis across the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida made the announcement on Monday.
“Today, I held discussions with the concerned departments on how Lakhpati Didis can avail themselves of Rs 10 lakh interest-free loans. This initiative will enable women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods,” said Deputy Chief Minister Parida while speaking to reporters.
She further elaborated on the government’s vision to transform Lakhpati Didis into Crorepati Didis.
“To achieve this, we will provide greater exposure, promotional support, financial incentives, and foster collaboration between banks and SHGs to boost product marketing,” Parida added.
She was confident that with these activities, many women would be able to complete this metamorphosis within a year.
The Odisha government’s initiative aims to increase women’s economic empowerment and promote inclusive growth throughout the state.
