In order to improve students’ professional readiness and psychosocial support for the 2025–2026 academic year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on August 7 introduced two initiatives: the CBSE professional Guidance Dashboard and the CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model.
The CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model aims to improve mental health support systems by establishing a network of CBSE mentor hub schools that collaborate with spoke schools, while the Career Guidance Dashboard provides students with the skills and resources they need to make an informed career exploration decision.
Explaining the CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model, CBSE said: “The model follows a collaborative approach: a central hub school will support and guide several spoke schools in its region. The hub serves as a resource and training centre, while the spoke schools benefit by learning, growing, and sharing together. This connected network is all about working as one — to build happier, healthier school environments.”
More than 500 principals, wellness instructors, and counselors from CBSE-affiliated schools around India attended the launch event, which was hosted at the CBSE Integrated Office in Dwarka.
Rahul Singh, IAS, the chairperson of the CBSE, spoke at the event and emphasized how these initiatives are in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the CBSE’s mission to promote inclusive, tech-driven, and scalable student support systems.
BSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, IAS, commended schools for helping students navigate academic and professional obstacles and emphasized the importance of structured mental health support.
The Career Guidance Dashboard is currently operational and accessible at cbsecareerguidance.in. The CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke Model, which outlines implementation procedures, roles, and oversight systems for mental wellness assistance, was also presented during a concentrated session.
Panel discussions on post-NEP 2020 reforms were part of the occasion, and Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Controller of Examinations, spoke. Stakeholders from several educational institutions discussed their experiences combining programs for mental and career wellness.
According to CBSE, these initiatives are a part of its larger goal to enhance students’ well-being and provide schools with the tools they need to provide prompt and efficient counseling services.
“The Board remains dedicated to working in close partnership with schools, educators, and mental health professionals to ensure the all-round development of every student,” CBSE while announcing the initiatives, said.
