Union Home Minister Amit Shah met and congratulated armed forces, paramilitary, and Jammu and Kashmir Police troops on Wednesday for avenging the April 22 Pahalgam slaughter by neutralizing all three Pakistan-backed culprits as part of ‘Operation Mahadev’.
The Home Minister praised the security forces for their bravery, as well as for giving ‘closure’ to the victims’ families, who were left disturbed and heartbroken by the cold-blooded murder during a holiday at the Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
During Operation Mahadev, security personnel shot down all of the terrorists engaged in the April 22 Pahalgam massacre, in which tourists were targeted based on their religion and executed at point-blank range. The terrorists killed 26 people, of whom 25 were Hindus and one was a local Muslim ponywalla.
The operation completed at the start of the Monsoon Session, and the Home Minister discussed it in Parliament. The Home Minister informed the House about the daring operation, stating that all investigations and forensic evidence revealed that the terrorists slain in Operation Mahadev were responsible for the deaths of 26 innocent persons, including one Nepalese tourist at Pahalgam.
The Home Minister thanked members of the armed forces, CRPF commandos, and Jammu and Kashmir Police during a special felicitation ceremony earlier in the day.
The Home Minister met with each security personnel individually and presented mementos and shawls to commemorate and reward their contribution to the country. The ‘Operation Mahadev’ team is also understood to have shared their challenges and experiences with the Home Minister, in tracking down the terrorists and eliminating them, during the three-month-long operation.
Home Minister Shah reminded the soldiers that Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev delivered a clear message to terrorists and their masterminds about the consequences of endangering the lives of Indian citizens.
Following the heinous terror assaults on April 22, the Indian Armed Forces annihilated terror havens and destroyed air bases in Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor, which ran from May 6 to 10. While Operation Sindoor taught Pakistan a lesson about spreading terror in India, Operation Mahadev was undertaken to track down the Pahalgam criminals, who tried to escape but were eventually apprehended by authorities in the third week of July.
