Stock Market Close Highlights today, September 29, 2025: The Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, concluded flat after fluctuating between gains and losses in the early session. Investors have remained cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) policy announcement, which is slated for Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with the RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting beginning today.
At the closing, the BSE Sensex was at 80,364.94, down 61.52 points or 0.08 percent, while the NSE Nifty50 was at 24,634.9, down 19.8 points or 0.08 percent.
Titan, SBI, Trent, and NTPC were the BSE’s biggest gainers. However, Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel, and ICICI Bank were among the top laggards.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap 100 index closed 0.27 percent higher, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index fell 0.07 percent.
Sectorally, Nifty Pharma and Auto lost 0.15 percent and 0.18 percent, respectively. Conversely, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Oil & Gas closed more than 1% higher.
