Stock market close highlights, Thursday, October 9, 2025: Indian market benchmark indices finished in green on Thursday, propelled by a bullish rebound in IT, metal, and pharmaceutical sectors, amid optimism about lowering geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and hopes of increased foreign investment inflows.
The Sensex increased 398.44 points, or 0.49 percent, to conclude at 82,172.10, while the Nifty50 closed at 25,181.8, up 135.65 points, or 0.54 percent.
In the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices rose 0.97 percent and 0.61 percent, respectively.
All sectoral indices closed in the green, headed by Nifty IT, Metal, and Pharma, which rose more than 1% apiece, followed by Auto, Bank, Energy, Financial Services, Realty, and Consumer Durables, among others.
Tata Steel, HCL Tech, Ultratech Cement, Bharat Electronics, and Sun Pharma were the Sensex constituents with the highest gains. Axis Bank, Titan, HDFC Bank, Maruti, and Bharat Airtel were the biggest laggards.
