The Bargarh Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav will begin on December 24 and run for 11 days, ending on January 3, 2026.
This year’s Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav will include a pre-festival selection process for Kansa and other artists. The conference, chaired by Bargarh District Collector Aditya Goyal on Monday evening, decided to add more fresh components and attractions to the celebration than in prior years.
Goyal, who also serves as President of the Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav Committee, discussed the festival’s security, budget, and infrastructure.
Aside from that, Goyal made significant ideas to improve the festival’s organization, grandeur, and appeal. He stressed that Bargarh’s Dhanu Yatra is the world’s largest open-air theatre, representing the district’s pride, culture, and legacy. As a result, he urged everyone to work together to maintain the tradition, glory, and grandeur of Dhanu Yatra and requested their assistance in accomplishing this goal.
The discussions also centered on improving the law and order situation, as well as crowd control measures, to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable experience for all guests. Furthermore, the artist selection process was reviewed, with a focus on transparency and justice.
The group also discussed budget preparation, as well as developing a thorough work plan and implementation strategy. These discussions were focused at ensuring the festival’s success and creating a great celebration.
Several prominent dignitaries attended the meeting, including Bargarh MLA Ashwini Kumar Sarangi, Atabira MLA Nihar Ranjan Mahanand, Padampur MLA Barsha Singh Bariha, Bargarh Municipal Chairperson Kalpana Majhi, Additional District Collector Madhuchhanda Sahu, Mahendra Mohapatra, and Sureshwar Satpathy, Secretary and Convener of the Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav Committee.
The gathering raised concern about the Superintendent of Police’s absence, who also serves as Vice-President of the Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav Committee.
Padampur MLA expressed her dissatisfaction, noting last year’s incident in which a young woman was molested during the event. She underlined the need of protecting the safety of the many ladies and men who attend the festival from diverse villages.
MLA Bariha also stated that the SP’s absence from such an important conference was unfortunate, raising concerns about the prioritizing of security measures.
