Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday.
PM Modi welcomed Amarasuriya, saying her visit would reenergize India-Sri Lanka’s longstanding and multifaceted connections. He recalled his state visit to Sri Lanka in April of this year, during which he had long discussions with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka about a wide range of bilateral collaboration.
The two leaders addressed how to expand partnership in critical areas such as education, technology, innovation, development cooperation, and fishermen’s welfare.
PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing their shared development journey and increasing regional prosperity, highlighting the two countries’ special links. He also offered best wishes to President Dissanayaka and expressed optimism in future high-level contacts.
