Stock Market Today | Muhurat Trading 2025 highlights, Tuesday, October 21, 2025: The Indian stock markets started Samvat 2082 on a cautious note. In a special Muhurat trading session today to celebrate Diwali, the Sensex and Nifty closed flat with a bullish bias. This annual ceremony, considered an auspicious event, marks the start of the new Hindu calendar year, Vikram Samvat 2082.
The BSE Sensex closed at 84,426.34, up 62.97 points or 0.07 percent, while the NSE Nifty50 increased 25.45 points or 0.1 percent to 25,868.60 levels.
In the broader market, the NSE Midcap 100 index increased 0.11 percent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index rose 0.52 percent.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank, PSU Bank, and Realty all posted losses. Among others, Nifty Auto, Energy, Financial Services, IT, Media, Metal, Pharma, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas all closed with minor advances.
Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Power Grid, and Bajaj Finance were the Sensex constituents with the highest gains. Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank, Maruti Suzuki, and Asian Paints were the biggest laggards.
On the NSE, 2,213 stocks rose, 710 fell, and 116 stayed unchanged. 106 stocks reached a new 52-week high, while 36 fell to a 52-week low.
