Night temperatures in Odisha have begun to fall as winter approaches, with Daringbadi in Kandhamal district hitting 9.5°C on Tuesday, the lowest in the state this season. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Phulbani was the next highest at 11°C.
Other towns that reported low temperatures included G. Udayagiri at 10.5°C, Jharsuguda at 11.1°C, Chiplima at 12°C, Kirei at 12.2°C, Rourkela at 12.9°C, Sundargarh at 13.2°C, Angul at 13.6°C, and Keonjhar at 13.4°C.
Dense fog was reported in Koraput and Bhawanipatna, limiting vision and disrupting daily life. On the other hand, Paralakhemundi had the highest temperature in the state, at 33.4°C.
IMD officials have encouraged citizens, particularly those in Kandhamal, Phulbani, and neighboring districts, to prepare for the cold as winter progresses.
