Saudi Arabia Bus Accident: A tragic bus accident in Medina, Saudi Arabia, killed 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad and other regions of Telangana, with only one survivor. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed amazement at the claims and stated that the state government is actively monitoring the situation.
Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said, “Forty-five people have died, and there is only one survivor who is currently in the hospital.” He also informed that 54 people travelled to Jeddah on November 9, and were scheduled to return on November 23.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted to the Saudi accident and said that he is “deeply saddened” by it. Further, he prayed for the swift recovery of all those injured. and said that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are providing all possible assistance.
The Telangana government stated it is in contact with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh after local Saudi media claimed that numerous Indian people were among those believed dead. Early reports indicate that the tragedy occurred on a bus traveling from Mecca to Madinah.
In an official statement, the state government stated that the chief minister has notified officials in New Delhi and asked them to work with embassy officials to identify passengers and verify injuries.
According to the Telangana CMO, the bus carried several Hyderabad citizens.
The state government has established a control center at the Secretariat to monitor developments and organize support as additional information becomes available.

Of the group, four travelled separately to Madinah by car, while another four stayed back in Makkah for personal reasons. The remaining 46 pilgrims were on the bus that met with the fatal accident.
Of those 46 passengers, 45 died on the spot as the bus was completely engulfed in flames.
Only one passenger, Md Abdul Shoaib, survived. He has been admitted to the ICU of a hospital in Saudi Arabia and remains in critical condition.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed condolences over the tragedy, which occurred late Sunday night near Madinah and claimed the lives of several Indian pilgrims.
“Saddened by the tragic accident involving a bus carrying Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. My condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones,” he wrote on X.
