The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in many Odisha districts on December 22 and 23, advising residents and commuters to be cautious in the early morning hours.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather report, intense fog is expected on December 22 in one or two locations in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Kandhamal. On the same day, shallow to moderate fog is likely in one or two locations in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput.
The meteorological agency predicts similar circumstances on December 23, with intense fog expected in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Kandhamal, and shallow to moderate fog in the remaining districts.
The IMD has encouraged residents to travel with caution in the early morning hours, as poor visibility may hamper road, rail, and air transit. Motorists are advised to drive slowly and use fog lights, and rail and airplane schedules may be impacted.
