Sensex Today | Stock Market Close Highlights, Tuesday, December 23, 2025: The Indian equity benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty50, closed neutral on Tuesday, with losses in information technology (IT) sectors offsetting gains in financial services, FMCG, and metal equities. The weekly expiry of Nifty options further dampened market confidence.
The BSE Sensex ended its two-day winning streak, closing 0.05 percent lower at 85,524.84. In contrast, the NSE Nifty 50 continued its gain for the third straight session, rising 0.02 percent, or 4.75 points, to 26,177.15.
On the BSE, the top gainers were ITC, UltraTech Cement, and Tata Steel, while the top losers were Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and Bharti Airtel.
On the NSE, the biggest gainers were Coal India, Shriram Finance, and ITC, while the top losers were Infosys, Bharti Airtel, and Adani Ports.
Broader markets finished mixed. The Nifty SmallCap 100 index closed 0.37 percent higher, while the Nifty MidCap 100 index remained steady.
Nifty IT was the sector’s biggest loss, down 0.80 percent. On the other hand, Nifty Media was the biggest gainer, up 0.84 percent. Metal, Media, and FMCG indices were also winners.
