Finnish President Alexander Stubb launched a four-day visit to India on Wednesday (March 4, 2026) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including commerce, investment, and key technologies.
Mr. Stubb will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (March 5, 2026), after which the two sides are likely to sign a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in a variety of industries.
The West Asian problem is likely to be a major topic during the summit.
“The visit will further strengthen the relations between Finland and India, including in the area of trade,” Mr. Stubb said before leaving for New Delhi.
The Finnish President will be the chief guest at the Raisina Dialogue’s opening session on Thursday evening (March 5, 2026).
Mr. Stubb was greeted warmly at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh.
“India and Finland share a warm and friendly relationship rooted in shared democratic values. President Stubb’s visit will impart further energy to India-Finland relations,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on social media.
The Finnish President is accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers, senior officials, and business executives.
Mr. Stubb’s trip to India comes only weeks after Finland’s Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, visited New Delhi for the AI Impact Summit.
The Finnish President will also meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.
Mr. Stubb will fly to Mumbai on Friday, March 6, 2026, to meet with many business executives. The Finnish leader’s visit will conclude on Saturday (March 7, 2026).
