Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights, Wednesday, March 4, 2026: The Indian benchmark equity indices fell for the third consecutive session as traders remained concerned about the evolving scenario in the Middle East amid tensions between the United States and Iran. The Sensex finished at a 10-month low, while the Nifty50 plummeted to a more than six-month low.
The Nifty50 closed 1.6%, or 385.2 points, lower at 24,480.5, while the Sensex closed 1.40 percent, or 1,122.66 points, lower at 79,116.19.
Larger markets underperformed benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices closed 2.2% and 2.1% lower, respectively.
Nifty Metal was the worst-performing sector, followed by Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Realty. The Nifty IT was the only sectoral indices to end Wednesday’s session higher than their rivals.
