Stock Market Highlights on Thursday, March 5, 2026: Indian benchmark market indices had their best session in almost a month, with risk appetite boosted by hints of US-Iran tensions being resolved.
According to reports, Iran’s Foreign Minister has stated that the country is willing to terminate its nuclear program provided the United States makes a good alternative offer.
The Nifty50 closed 1.17 percent higher, or 285.40 points, at 24,765.90, while the Sensex closed 1.14 percent higher, or 899.71 points, at 80,015.90.
The shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Hindalco Industries, and Larsen & Toubro rose the most in the Nifty50 index.
Broader markets outpaced benchmark indexes. The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices closed 1.52% and 1.58% higher, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Metal index outperformed with a 2.3% rise. Nifty Oil and Gas and Nifty Construction Durables were also among the best-performing sectoral indices.
