Odisha has proved its expertise in skill development by winning the top spot at the IndiaSkills 2025-26 national competition, with the most medals among all states in the country. The state’s participants performed admirably, winning a total of 57 medals. Out of the 90 contestants from Odisha, 15 won gold, 12 won silver, and 14 won bronze. Additionally, 16 competitors received Medallions for Excellence.
Sampad Chandra Swain, Odisha’s Minister for Skill Development and Technical Education, congratulated the recipients on their outstanding success and emphasized the state’s world-class training infrastructure, strong culture of skill excellence, and solid institutional support.
He expressed confidence that Odisha’s talented youth would continue to flourish on international stages in the coming years. Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, and Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, CEO of the World Skill Center, congratulated the participants on their dedication, discipline, and technical knowledge. They sent their best wishes for the next international competitions. The medal winners were greeted warmly and enthusiastically when they arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, with World Skill Center officials recognizing the strength and efficacy of Odisha’s skilling ecosystem.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) organized IndiaSkills 2025-26, which drew over 650 competitors from throughout India. The competition was held at several locations, including Greater Noida and several centers in Odisha and other states, and included a wide range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, ICT, creative arts, and services.
The top performers from this national championship will now represent India in the famous WorldSkills Competition, carrying the country’s prestige on a worldwide scale.
