The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department (H&FW) said on Wednesday that there was no need to fear over the state’s rising COVID-19 scenario, as the current pattern shows merely a low and seasonal increase in cases.
Taking note of recent media reports on COVID-19, the department stated that the situation is being continuously monitored in compliance with the norms and regulations established by the Government of India.
According to information provided by the Centre, based on an independent review by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the current COVID-19 scenario indicates a limited seasonal spike and does not indicate any concerning trend.
“The current data points to a low, seasonal increase with no cause for panic,” the department said in a statement.
The Health Department stated that normal surveillance systems and standard clinical vigilance procedures will continue throughout the state. Health officials will examine the situation on a regular basis and take appropriate action in accordance with established norms.
The department stressed that the state’s health system is adequately equipped to respond to any change in the circumstances, and that developments are constantly examined in collaboration with the Centre.
