Superstar Rajinikanth has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, following ‘severe blood pressure fluctuations’.
A statement issued by Apollo Hospital on Friday afternoon stated Rajinikanth ‘will be investigated and monitored closely till his blood pressure settles down before being discharged’.
The full statement read, “Mr. Rajinikanth has been admitted within the hospital right this moment within the morning. He was shooting for a film in Hyderabad since the last 10 days. A few individuals on the units tested positive for Covid-19. Mr. Rajinikanth was tested on December 22 for Covid-19 and he was negative. Since then, he isolated himself and was monitored carefully. Although he didn’t have any signs of Covid-19, his Blood Pressure showed severe fluctuations and needed further analysis for which he has been admitted to the hospital. He will be investigated and monitored closely in the hospital until his blood pressure settles down before being discharged. Apart from fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion he doesn’t have any other signs and is hemodynamically stable.”
A medical bulletin released on Friday evening stated Rajinikanth is ‘stable and resting’.
The full bulletin read, “Mr Rajinikanth is being monitored closely and medications to control his blood pressure are being carefully titrated. He will remain within the hospital tonight and undergo further investigations tomorrow. He’s stable and is resting. Family and treating doctors have requested all well wishers to keep away from visiting the hospital as he isn’t being allowed to meet any guests. His daughter is with him. Governor of Telangana, called and spoke to the doctors and wished him a speedy recovery.”
Rajinikanth, who turned 70 on December 12, had been shooting for Tamil film Annaatthe in Hyderabad since December 14. Earlier this week, four crew members of Annaatthe tested positive for coronavirus. Following the crew members’ diagnosis, Rajinikanth took the Covid-19 test on December 22 and his result came negative. However, the actor determined to isolate himself and was under observation. However, following ‘severe blood pressure fluctuations,’ he had to be hospitalised on Friday.
