Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the possible formation of a cyclonic storm within the Bay of Bengal, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hold a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Collectors of all the vulnerable districts, and other officials to review the preparedness.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra had yesterday informed all line departments like electricity companies, rural water supply, urban water supply, Health department, ODRAF, and NDRF teams have been put on alert so that all manpower, material, etc which are required to tackle this cyclone are arranged immediately.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre today informed that the cyclonic circulation over Southeast & adjoining Central Bay of Bengal persists. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea.
As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Low Pressure Area is likely to develop into a depression by May 23 and convert to a cyclonic storm by 24. It’s expected to move in a north-northwesterly direction and will hit any place between north Odisha coast till Bangladesh by May 26.
