The Odisha government aims to deliver electricity to all remaining residences in the state by the end of September, according to Deputy Chief Minister Energy KV Singh Deo, who spoke in the State Assembly on Wednesday.
In a written response to a query by Congress MLA from Lakshmipur Pabitra Saunta, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that, according to information provided by power distribution companies (DISCOMs), houses without an electricity connection have been included in the State government’s electrification scheme, and Rs 415 crore has been provided to the DISCOMs for the purpose, with the goal of providing electricity connections to those houses by the end of September 2024.
Singh Deo also stated that work is underway to connect 1432 residences in the Lakshmipur constituency that do not currently have electricity.
