On Friday, a cloudburst was reported near the base camp of the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the Himalayas of south Kashmir. So far, at least thirteen people have been confirmed dead, and five have been rescued. According to officials, at least 30 or 40 people are still missing.
At around 5.30 p.m., a cloud burst in the lower reaches of Amarnath cave. The Indian Air Force is preparing assets such as helicopters and personnel to launch rescue and relief operations at the cave site.
The NDRF, SDRF, and other associated agencies are conducting rescue operations, according to the Joint Police Control Room in Pahalgam. After heavy rains in the upper reaches, water came from above the cave.
For the time being, the rain has stopped. The cloudburst damaged some langars at the Amarnath shrine. A helicopter is dispatched to rescue the injured.
According to Vijay Kumar, the IGP of Kashmir, the injured are being airlifted for treatment. He claimed that the situation was under control.
