On Sunday, US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and other G-7 leaders will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky via video call. Prior to the virtual meeting, the United Kingdom announced $1.3 billion in military aid to the war-torn country. “Putin’s brutal attack not only causes unimaginable devastation in Ukraine – it also threatens peace and security across Europe,” Johnson was quoted as saying. The new pledge more than doubles the UK’s previous commitment to the country since the war began on February 24.

1. According to Kyiv, all women and children were evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant in the besieged Mariupol port city on Saturday. “We are now preparing the second phase of the evacuation mission — the wounded and health-care workers,” Zelensky was quoted as saying, adding, “though the second phase will be extremely difficult, we will not lose hope.”
2.
