Bahuda Yatra is the Return Journey of the holy trinity on their three chariots to Srimandir. After spending nine-day stay inside the Gundicha temple, the deities start their (Bahuda Yatra) return journey to Srimandir as pulling of the chariots by servitors and police personnel begins on Bada Danda (Grand Road) here.on the 10th day.

As per rituals, all deities– Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan were taken atop their respective chariots in Dhadi Pahandi (ceremonial procession) from inner sanctum of Gundicha Temple. After that Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb performed Chhera Panhara, a ceremonial sweeping of the three chariot floors with a golden broom.

Later, pulling of chariots began on Bada Danda amidst chants of ‘Hari Bol’, blowing of conch shells and beating of cymbals.

Servitors and police personnel first pulled Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra. Later chariots of Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath will be pulled one after another.
On the way back, chariots of Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra move on to the Srimandir and are parked in front of Singhadwara. However, chariot of Lord Jagannath halts for a while at the Ardhasini Temple, also known as Mausi Maa Temple, where ‘poda pitha’ is offered to Him.

Before reaching the Srimandir, Lord Jagannath’s chariot also halts in front of the palace of Gajapati Maharaja of Puri, where a ritual namely ‘Lakshmi-Narayana Bheta’ is held.
