Barsha Singh Bariha of the BJD took his oath as the legislator for the Padampur assembly constituency on Monday.
Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha administered the oath to Barsha in his official chamber in the Odisha Assembly here.
The ruling BJD won the bypoll to retain the Padampur Assembly seat, defeating the nearest BJP rival by a massive 42,679 votes.
Barsha received 1,20,807 votes (58 percent), BJP candidate Pradeep Purohit received 78,128 votes (37.51 percent), and Congress candidate Satya Bhusan Sahu received 3,594 votes (1.73 percent).
