The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is expected to release its next list of candidates for several states including Odisha after the Central Election Committee on Saturday night approved the names of candidates for Odisha.
The CEC discussed candidates for Odisha, according to national media, despite the party having not yet announced the list. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Dharmendra Pradhan from Sambalpur, Sambit Patra from Puri, and Aprajita Sarangi from Bhubneshwar are expected to contest.
Similarly, incumbent Member of Parliament Sangita Singh Deo is expected to run for the Lok Sabha seat of Bolangir, while Pratap Sarangi may run from Balasore once more. Rudra Pani might be given another chance from Dhenkanal.
As per reports, Balabhadra Majhi is likely to be fielded from Nabarangpur.
However, the names of two sitting MPs might be removed from the list.
The CEC discussed the poll strategy for Odisha in the late-night meeting. “Candidates and polls strategy were discussed. The CEC will decide the final list of candidates,” Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal told a news agency in Delhi after the meeting.
The crucial meeting was attended by BJP President JP Nadda, PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, CM Yogi Adityanath, Baijayant Panda, and others.
