Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan today announced that the new curriculum framework (NCF) as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is complete, and textbooks will be published for the 2024 academic session.
According to the NCF, board exams will be held twice a year, with students allowed to keep the best score. This is done to guarantee that pupils have enough time and opportunities to succeed. Students can then sit for a board test in subjects they have completed and believe they are prepared for.
Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan today announced that the new curriculum framework (NCF) as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is complete, and textbooks will be published for the 2024 academic session.
Rather than months of coaching and memorization, the board exams will test comprehension and achievement of competencies.
Students in grades 11 and 12 will now be required to study two languages, one of which must be an Indian language. Subject options will no longer be limited to streams, and students will have more freedom to pick.
“In due course of time, school boards are to develop capacities to offer ‘on demand’ exams in due course of time. Besides board exam test developers and evaluators will have to go through university-certified courses before taking up this work,” it said.
The new framework also states that the current practice of ‘covering’ texts in class will be discouraged, while emphasizing that textbook costs should be minimized.
