July 07, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Vietnamese counterpart, Phạm Minh Chính, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Brazil.
PM Modi shared a post on X, writing:
“Had a good conversation with PM Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Brazil.”
Prime Minister Modi also met Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel during the summit. The two leaders warmly greeted each other and covered a wide range of subjects. Economic relations between the two nations hold significant potential for growth in the coming years. Equally promising are sectors such as technology, healthcare, and energy. The growing acceptance of Ayurveda in Cuba was also acknowledged as a positive development. The leaders discussed ways to strengthen disaster management systems as well.

“It was wonderful to meet President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez of Cuba. In our talks, we covered a wide range of subjects. Economic relations between our nations have a lot of potential to grow in the coming times. Equally promising are sectors like technology, healthcare and energy. The growing acceptance of Ayurveda in Cuba is surely a great thing. We even discussed ways to strengthen disaster management apparatus.”
Prime Minister Modi also held a bilateral meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim. Malaysia holds strategic importance for India, occupying a key place in both the Vision MAHASAGAR and Act East Policy. The leaders reviewed progress in bilateral relations, including developments since Prime Minister Ibrahim’s visit to India last year. Futuristic sectors such as IT, renewable energy, and infrastructure are areas where bilateral ties are strengthening. They also discussed measures to enhance trade and investment between the two nations.

“It was a very good meeting with Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Brazil. Malaysia is vital for India, having a key place in our Vision MAHASAGAR and Act East Policy.
We reviewed the ground covered in our bilateral relations, including the progress made since PM Ibrahim’s visit to India last year. Futuristic sectors like IT, renewable energy and infrastructure are those where bilateral ties are growing strongly. Also discussed how to improve investment and trade relations between our nations.”
