The Odisha Bus Owners’ Association has decided to hold a statewide bus strike beginning January 17.
The association opposing the state government’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy has made a decision in this regard, according to Debendra Sahu, secretary of the association.
Members of the association staged a protest last month in front of the State Transport Authority’s office, demanding the fulfillment of an eight-point charter of demands and opposing the policy.
On January 7, the Secretary of Transportation met with the members. However, the meeting was ineffective.
As a result, the association has declared a bus strike from January 17 to an indefinite period. The Cuttack Private Bus Owners’ Association has also endorsed the strike call.
