The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the Class 10 and Class 12 practical exam dates for the 2026 board exams. Practical exams, project work, and internal assessments for the 2025-26 academic year will take place from November 6 to December 6, 2025 for winter-bound schools, and from January 1, 2026 for other CBSE-affiliated schools in India and abroad.
The CBSE Class 10 and 12 theory exams will begin on February 12, 2026.
All schools following the winter-bound sessions have been instructed to produce the final list of candidates and ensure that no student from the school whose name has not been submitted in the online LOC to the Board is allowed to appear for these practical tests, project or internal assessment.
Class 10 internal assessment will only be conducted once, hence all schools should fill the marks for all candidates during the time schedule mentioned.
CBSE has asked the schools to contact the regional offices for the appointment of external examiners and observers and make sure that the practical examination, project work and internal assessment are held in time.
The school will have to form batches of 30 students in each discipline. As a result, the schools must undertake the practical/project assessment of 30 students in a single batch in order to better manage the practical/project assessment and mark uploading.
Practical examinations/project assessments should always be conducted in two or three sessions per day if there are more than 30 students. It should be mentioned that because the batch/group size is 30, each batch/group’s examination/assessment will be conducted in a single session jointly.
CBSE stated that all students must be present for their practical examination or project assessment on the exact dates specified, and that if a student is unable to attend on the given day for any reason, their exam or assessment may only be re-conducted within the officially declared timetable. The Board will not accept any requests for extensions or special authorization beyond these dates.
If a student remains absent for the Practical Examination, Project, or Internal Assessment in the current session, their status should be recorded as “Absent” in the online system. However, if the student’s examination or assessment is to be held on a different date within the approved schedule, they should be marked as “Re-scheduled” instead. Schools will be permitted to re-conduct the examination or assessment only for students marked as “Re-scheduled” and strictly within the prescribed timeframe.
