The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will launch the first part of its annual free psychosocial counselling services for Class 10 and 12 students on January 6. The services are designed to help examinees cope with stress and maintain mental well-being ahead of board exams.
The counselling services will be available until June 1, 2026, and are intended to help pupils prepare for the CBSE theoretical examinations. The CBSE board exams will begin on February 17, 2026, according to an official release.
CBSE has set up a 24-hour toll-free Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) helpline at 1800-11-8004. Students can use the IVRS to get round-the-clock support in Hindi and English, including recommendations on stress-free preparation, time and stress management, answers to frequently asked questions, and crucial CBSE-related contact information.
In addition, tele-counselling services will be offered every working day from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Students and parents can speak with a panel of 73 trained professionals, including principals, counsellors, and special educators from CBSE-affiliated schools, as well as licensed psychologists. Of these, 61 counsellors are situated in India, with the remaining 12 in Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, providing a voluntary support network.
CBSE has also made a variety of digital resources available on its official website to help students manage stress, develop efficient study strategies, and maintain emotional well-being. The board stated that the resources have been created to be short, interesting, and easily accessible.
The board has encouraged students and parents to make active use of these programs as part of its continuous efforts to support students’ psychosocial well-being during the Class 10 and 12 examination cycles.
