The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun the application process for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025. This scholarship is intended to help deserving single female students who have completed the CBSE Class 10 test with at least 70% and are continuing their education in Class 11 at CBSE-affiliated schools.
According to the official notice, the application process for the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship 2025 is now available online. Students who meet the eligibility conditions can submit their forms through the CBSE scholarship portal within the specified deadline. Schools must also complete the online verification of applications.
Note that the Board has clarified that any application that is not verified by the respective school will stand rejected, highlighting the importance of timely completion of both student and school responsibilities.
What are the benefits of the scholarship?
The scholarship grants Rs 1,000 per month to selected students. This benefit is valid for a maximum of two years, covering both Class 11 and Class 12. Payment is made directly to the student by ECS or NEFT transfer, ensuring a transparent and hassle-free transaction.
Scholarship renewal is possible if the student earns at least 70% in Class 11 and is promoted to Class 12. In this approach, the scholarship not only helps students financially, but it also encourages them to maintain their academic excellence.
Who is eligible for CBSE’s scholarship?
The scheme is exclusively available to single female children of their parents. CBSE explains that twins and other children born together are likewise classified as single girls. To be eligible, the student must have passed the CBSE Class 10 exams in 2025 with at least 70% and be currently enrolled in Class 11 and 12 in a CBSE-affiliated school.
The tuition price for Class 10 should not have surpassed Rs 2,500 per month, and for Classes 11 and 12, it should not have beyond Rs 3,000. For NRI applicants, the monthly ceiling is Rs 6,000.
The scheme is open to Indian nationals, though NRI students studying under CBSE are also eligible. Furthermore, the gross parental or family income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh per annum, as certified by a self-declaration of the parents.
How to apply for CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship?
Applications must be filed online using CBSE’s official scholarship portal. Students must fill out their personal profile, academic achievements, and school information. Along with this, the necessary documents must be uploaded in the proper format.
Once the student has completed her application, it must be approved by the principal of her present school. The CBSE has clearly indicated that unverified applications will be rejected and not processed further. As a result, candidates must verify that their school completes the verification process within the deadline.
Documents required for the scholarship
To apply for the scholarship, students will need to upload certain documents online. These include an affidavit in the prescribed format declaring the single girl child status, a copy of the first quarterly fee slip of the current academic year attested by the principal, and an income certificate or a self-declaration that the gross annual family income does not exceed Rs 8 lakh.
Students also need to provide valid identification proof such as an Aadhaar card and details of their bank account to facilitate ECS or NEFT transfer of the scholarship amount.
How does CBSE select the students for the scholarship?
The Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship selection process is purely merit-based. Students who scored at least 70% in their CBSE Class 10 examination and meet all other eligibility requirements will be eligible for the award. Applicants for renewal must have received the scholarship the previous year, scored at least 70% in Class 11, and been advanced to Class 12.
The schools conduct a thorough verification process on the applications, and any discrepancies or failures to check result in rejection. Once given, the scholarship is only valid if the student maintains excellent conduct, regular attendance, and academic success.
CBSE has also emphasized that once a scholarship is cancelled, it cannot be renewed under any circumstances, and the Board’s decision is final in all instances.
