The Central Government has approved a new Amrit Bharat train service that will connect Odisha to Assam and Telangana, with the goal of improving regional rail connectivity. The train will operate from Kamakhya in Assam to Cherlapally (Sikandrabad) in Telangana, passing through important Odisha stations such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khordha Road, Balugaon, and Berhampur.
In addition, two special trains have been regularized: the 18403/18404 Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Special Train and the 08439/08440 Puri-Patna Special Train. These trains would boost connectivity for passengers in Odisha and surrounding states.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had already raised the need for improved rail services with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who then notified the Chief Minister of the permissions by letter.
Majhi has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw for their help in improving Odisha’s rail infrastructure.
