PK Mishra, the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, held a high-level review meeting on the Joshimath situation in Uttarakhand on Sunday. Mishra was informed that central government agencies and experts are assisting the statement government in developing short, medium, and long-term plans.
One National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and four State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have already arrived in Joshimath, where people are concerned about land subsidence and cracks in hundreds of houses, according to news agency PTI.
According to news agency ANI, chief secretary SS Sandhu and director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar also participated in the PMO meeting via video conferencing.
According to the report, affected families are being relocated to safe locations.
The Boundary Management secretary and members of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will visit Uttarakhand on Monday and assess the situation
According to officials, a team of experts from the NDMA, National Institute of Disaster Management, Geological Survey of India, IIT Roorkee, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Hydrology, and Central Building Research Institute will study the situations and make recommendations.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister, visited Joshimath on Saturday to assess the situation on the ground, a day after ordering the immediate evacuation of 600 affected families.
Joshimath, according to Dhami, is an important cultural, religious, and tourist destination, and all efforts will be made to preserve it.
Joshimath serves as a gateway to popular pilgrimage sites such as Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib, as well as the international skiing destination Auli.
