On Wednesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presided over a high-level review conference at Lok Seva Bhawan to analyze the state’s overall law and order situation. He directed the police administration to keep a close eye on antisocial elements, troublemakers, and suspicious individuals throughout all districts in order to maintain peace and public safety.
The Chief Minister expressed concern about the activities of certain motivated organizations reportedly attempting to ruin Odisha’s reputation as a peaceful state, and directed police authorities to take stern action to avoid any disruptions.
Majhi observed that the situation in Cuttack is gradually returning to normal, with the curfew removed and internet connections restored. However, he warned against complacency, urging police officers to continue monitoring and remaining in critical locations in order to ensure stability.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need of restoring social harmony in Cuttack and urged senior authorities to meet with community leaders on a regular basis to promote peace and understanding. Earlier, he urged Cuttack locals to work with the administration to restore tranquility.
Majhi expressed her anguish at the murder of lawyer and social worker Pitabash Panda in Berhampur, instructing police to identify and apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible and to guarantee severe punishment for those involved.
Senior officials attended the meeting, including Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, DGP Y.B. Khurania, and Principal Secretary to the CM Saswat Mishra, among others.
The directives demonstrate the state government’s firm commitment to maintaining law and order, as well as its determination to protect Odisha’s reputation for peace and communal harmony.
