On Thursday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi underlined his government’s commitment to farmer welfare, stressing that ensuring that every qualified farmer receives full benefits from all schemes remained his top priority. The Chief Minister spoke to farmers at the Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar at the state-level release of the 21st installment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the instalment from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, distributing over ₹18,000 crore to over 9 crore farmers throughout the country. The programme was held simultaneously at the district, block, panchayat, PACS, and mandi levels across the country, with the Prime Minister addressing farmers from several states.
Speaking at the Odisha event, Chief Minister Majhi noted that the Centre provides ₹6,000 per year under PM-KISAN in three instalments to support timely purchase of seeds, fertilisers and pesticides. Under the latest instalment, 34.12 lakh farmers in Odisha are receiving ₹2,000 each, delivered through a transparent system that benefits small, marginal, large and even urban farmers.

Majhi congratulated the Prime Minister for incorporating Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, and Nuapada districts in the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
Several farmers, notably Subash Chandra Das of Balianta, Rupashree Swain of Balipatna, and Kartik Parida of Kusumati (Jatni), described how PM-KISAN assistance has improved their farming operations. The Chief Minister met with them and encouraged them to diversify into oilseeds, vegetables, fruits, and other cash crops in addition to paddy. He pledged that the government will continue to support efforts to increase farm productivity and revenue.
Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Minister, announced that farmers in Odisha now earn ₹10,000 annually through the combined PM-KISAN and CM-KISAN benefits. He stated that proper use of this financial support can greatly minimize suffering and improve agricultural output. He went on to say that Odisha’s farmer-welfare measures have received national recognition, with the Union Agriculture Minister encouraging other states to follow in Odisha’s footsteps.
OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pravat Kumar Roul emphasized that, while farmers have land and labour, they frequently lack capital. PM-KISAN, he said, helps bridge this gap, boosting their financial resilience and confidence.
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, welcomed the participants. Many farmers from the Khordha district attended the event.
