Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated on Tuesday that Odisha has entered a period of genuine industrial change that will reshape the state’s economic trajectory. He was addressing at the commencement of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited’s ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036 Conclave’.

Majhi highlighted the government’s strategy for boosting Odisha’s economy from $120 billion to $500 billion by 2036. He stated that significant growth in infrastructure, industrialization, and skill development would be the driving forces behind this approximately five-fold expansion during the following decade.
The Chief Minister stated that investments worth ₹2 lakh crore have already been made, with foundation stones laid for 84 industrial projects that will create 1.64 lakh jobs. Major conglomerates such as Vedanta, Adani, JSW, Indian Oil, and Zoho have large projects in the works, as there is growing interest in textiles and green energy.
He noted enormous advances in roads, trains, ports and airports under concerted efforts of the Central and State governments.

Majhi also revealed plans to establish Bhubaneswar as a major technology hub in eastern India. FinTech and InsurTech companies are expanding in the city, two semiconductor units have formed partnerships with top IT corporations, and strategic projects such as the Capital Region Ring Road are expected to drive large-scale urban growth in the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar corridor.
Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stated that the government has gained public trust in a year and set Odisha on the path of a “industrial revolution”.
A memento titled ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036’ was released to commemorate the occasion. The occasion was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Industries Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, UCCIL President Prabodh Mahanty, and numerous prominent industrialists.
