Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi evaluated the situation following Cyclone Dana’s arrival again on Friday morning. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, DG Police YB Khurania, and Special Relief Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister also communicated with the District Collectors of the affected districts via video conference.
He met with the collectors of 11 districts, including Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurdha, and Jajpur, to discuss the status of cyclone preparations.
Majhi stated following the review meeting at the SRC office, “Cyclone Dana made landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra, and the process continued until 7 a.m. today.” No causality has occurred as a result of diligent administration and preparation. “Our government has met its ‘zero causality’ target.”
Because of the wind’s force, trees were uprooted in a variety of locations, and highways were closed. The Chief Minister stated that all roads will be cleaned by 1 p.m. today, and that District Collectors have been asked to do damage assessments. In addition, power will be restored in the affected districts by this evening.
Senior ministers and officials are coordinating relief efforts and constantly monitoring the situation, he said, adding that 571 families are are still in waterlogged conditions due to the cyclone.
