Today, across 13 districts throughout the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik lay the foundations for 19 Instream Storage Structures.
For these initiatives, the government will invest Rs 4,006 crores.
In front of local farmers and enthusiasts, the chief mistress virtually lay the foundation stone.
Thirteen districts—Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Khurda, Puri, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Sundergarh—saw the laying of the foundation stones for nineteen projects.
In Kendrapara, there were around 15,000 people, 10,000 of whom were women farmers.
The Chief Minister stated that this project will have a significant positive impact on our farmers at the time. It will be especially beneficial for the supply of drinking water. Additionally, it will support livestock husbandry, seafood aquaculture, etc. The initiative will balance the ecosystem and raise the amount of groundwater.
According to Patnaik, these kinds of initiatives are critical to our sustainable development. In addition, he added that these measures will contribute in flood control.
According to the Chief Minister, the instream storage scheme was initiated in 2020 with a budget of Rs 11,700. Programs have been created thus far for 72 projects divided into 3 stages.
Public participation and opinion are the cornerstone for the programs’ implementation.
Those who visited the various districts with the 5T chairman submitted ideas for this kind of endeavor. The CM stated that all of these projects are being carried out with input and suggestions from the public.
One important project carried out as part of the 5T plan is the inter-river wetland project. The use of technology and the prompt completion of tasks are emphasized. According to Patnaik, this initiative won’t result in any job losses.
Highlighting the various measures taken for the welfare of farmers in the state, the Chief Minister said that this project is aimed at the development of farmers and the protection of the environment.
“Our programs like Kalia Yojana, interest-free loan facility for farmers, payment of crop insurance premium have boosted the confidence of farmers in the state. If the farmers prosper, the state will prosper. We are working for their betterment and will continue to work in the coming days,” he said.
Water Resources Minister Tukuni Sahu who was present in Balangir, said that the Chief Minister is determined for the betterment of the farmers.
Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of Food Supply was present in Kendrapara’s Mahakalapada. He said that the Chief Minister has always given importance to the development of Kendrapara. Not only this project, but many others are being implemented in the district. Nayak thanked the Chief Minister and 5T chairman for the Arcelor Mittal project.
5T Chairman VK Pandian said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is undertaking projects for the improvement in all parts of the state. He expressed his gratitude to the people for their continuous support to the welfare projects.
Pandian stated that the Chief Minister would soon conduct the Bhoomi Pujan for the facility, adding that the Chief Minister had worked very hard during his tour to Japan for the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel project at Kendrapada.
In Kantamal of Boudh, MLA Mahidhar Rana expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the project.
Present farmers expressed their gratitude to the chief minister and assured him that the initiatives will help farmers facing drought.
Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, gave the welcoming speech and the department’s EIC offered the vote of gratitude.
