The proposed master plan for the development of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla was approved today by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
More than 10,000 students will be enrolled in this institution’s 24 undergraduate departments by 2026. A total of Rs 2000 crore will be spent in three phases for this purpose.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Secretary to CM(5T) visited Burla on August 25 and advised to prepare a master plan to develop it as a Center of Excellence.
By 2030, it will be developed as a Multi-Disciplinary Engineering & Research University, according to the master plan.
It will be on par with the country’s premier engineering institutes, such as the IITs and NITs. It will house seven schools, including the School of Engineering, the Skill Development Center, the School of Medical Technology, and the School of Basic Science.
According to the master plan, this institution will be able to accommodate 10,864 students. Currently, there are 2,849 students enrolled in various courses.
24 engineering programs, more than 14 departments, and more than 27 centers of excellence will be established across the seven schools.
Classrooms, laboratories, professors’ chambers, and galleries will be available at each school. All schools will have cutting-edge research centers and laboratory facilities.
Each Center of Excellence will be in collaboration with the industry, and at least one alumni will serve as a mentor.
As a result, each Center of Excellence can serve as a cutting-edge research and consultancy center for industries, as well as a node center for rural and urban development.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed that all smart classrooms be completed within three months.
The hostel and other general repairs will be completed as soon as possible, and the institution will have 24-hour power.
The Chief Minister discussed this with the University’s Chancellor and Professors. They all praised the transformation work and promised to work hard on it.
The discussion included Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and senior officers.
