After a short break, a cold wave is predicted to return to Odisha this week as western disturbances are anticipated to cause another dip in the minimum and nighttime temperatures.
The temperature will decrease by 2°C to 4°C below average, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar. A cold wave is therefore expected to return to many parts of Odisha, particularly Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
It seems unlikely that the weather will change significantly during the next three days, though.
In the meantime, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts in Odisha are under a yellow alert until Wednesday due to cold and heavy fog, according to the IMD. In these districts, visibility is anticipated to fall below 50 meters. In certain locations, a warning of zero visibility has also been issued.
Alongside this, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Cuttack, and Khurdha are likely to have light to moderate fog.
