According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), night temperatures in numerous districts of Odisha are rising, providing a welcome break from the cold wave.
According to the IMD, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar had the lowest temperatures at 13.4°C, followed by Bhubaneswar at 14.4°C. Balasore and Paradip reported 15°C, with Chandbali slightly warmer at 15.2°C.
The coastal towns of Gopalpur and Puri had considerably higher temperatures, reaching 16.8°C and 17.4°C, respectively.
The temperature increase is related to active western disturbances hitting the region. The IMD predicts a further increase in night temperatures, with a 2-3°C swing over the next four days.
Furthermore, daytime temperatures increased across Odisha on Monday, with Paralakhemundi recording the highest temperature in the state at 32 degrees Celsius. At least eight locations saw maximum temperatures exceeding 31 degrees, indicating an early surge in heat conditions.
According to IMD scientist Umashankar Das, Paralakhemundi had the highest temperature, followed by Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh, all at 31.8 degrees Celsius.
